FiiO FT15 Planar Magnetic Over Ear Headphones, the next-generation successor to the FiiO FT5. Engineered for audiophiles and music enthusiasts seeking reference-grade sound, FT15 puts FiiO's extensive research in planar driver technology to practice. By incorporating a 800-nanometer ultra-thin diaphragm—86.7% thinner than in its FT5 predecessor—and a proprietary diamond-coating process across the entire diaphragm, FT15 delivers exceptionally low distortion, wicked transient response, and extended frequency response from 7Hz way up to 40kHz.

FT15 Driver Technology Innovations

FT15 features a massive 101mm driver that expands the effective vibrating area by 35% over the FT5, creating a grander soundstage and deeper sub-bass impact with incredible dynamics. This larger driver utilizes FiiO's in house technology for a patented multi-layer coating system. FiiO applies a silver aluminum alloy to the voice coil, for improved conductivity and performance. 

There is also a diamond coating process used to increase the hardness & stability of the ultra thin material, using a complex manufacturing process. Commonly used in high end audio to improve tweeter driver performance, FiiO is applying it here to improve the audio quality of the FT15's drivers. The material undergoes a vapor deposition process and becomes a stable reinforcing layer. It helps to improve response speed, reduce high frequency accuracy and extend high  frequency response.

FiiO has enhanced the durability and lifespan of its drivers by using a chip manufacturing tech, 28nm chip-grade manufacturing process. Common in the semi-conductor industry, vacuum electroplating tech is used to uniformly form the voice coil on the diaphragm, providing an better bond between the diaphragm and the conductive layer. During years of motion and vibration, this stable structure improves the lifespan of the driver. 

Reduced Weight for Improved Comfort

FiiO approached every part of the headphone as an opportunity to reduce weight and thus, improve comfort. Components that you do not see, such as the magnetic circuit - 35% weight reduction - have been optimized, along with the bracket holding the magnets - 33% reduction, to reduce weight without a loss of performance. 

A Carbon Fiber headband has been used, similar to the flagship FT7 model, for its unbeatable combination of strength, accurate tension, rigidity and light weight. In combination with its wide, soft suspended headband, it helps provide outstanding comfort, no pressure points on the  top of the head and a reliable fit.

It has long been known that ear pads effect both comfort and the headphones response. FT15 includes two set of earpads you can swap easily for a bit of customization. Choose from the suede or protein leather pads for the fit you prefer, or based on the subtle change they have on the headphone's response.

Balanced Cable Included

FT15 includes a high-end cable with no compromise! The 1.5m cable is ideal for desktop use, so common nowadays, or with portable devices. It terminates in a 4.4mm plug and includes two adaptors: a XLR plug & a 6.35mm plug, to use with desktop headphone amps.

The cable is tour de force in quality - featuring a Liquid Nitrogen treated 6N copper cable, with over 100 hours cryogenic treatment at -192 degrees C applied, providing low resistance and excellent conductivity. There is an internal TPU layer and FPA shielding, all wrapped in a woven nylon  housing, black with gold trim.

The Black Walnut wood on the housings is top-grade, furniture grade, high end quality wood, suitable for car interiors. Its meticulous finish elevates the look and feel in the hand of the FT15. 

The headphone is easy to drive, with a sensitivity of 95dB, allowing you flexibility to use FT15 with a range of sources like dongle DACs, portable CD Players, DAPs and a wide range of headphone amps, for maximum performance. It excels in providing a warm, natural sound that is easy to access.
