What is FiiO Class A Headphone Amplifier?

Class A amps are often impractical since by design they are less efficient, always running fully on, with significant power converted to heat during use, so they are not perfect for every desk or rack location. They also tend to be more expensive and built in small quantities. Despite this, when designed with precision, they have a rich and spacious effect to the sound, especially the midrange and vocals, that can be extremely appealing.

The Class A Design Quality

FiiO's Class A aims to make a compact headphone amplifier that cools reliably, based on a powerful custom 60 watt toroidal transformer that supplies ample internal power, supported by a massive 20,000 uf capacitor reservoir. The amp's channels are precisely tuned and matched from individually tuned audio transistors and selected resistors and  capacitors - all in support of a pure, natural analog sound.

The Class A combines transistors from two quality companies, Sanken & Toshiba, with complimentary qualities, to achieve the incredible analog tuning FiiO was seeking. High quality internal wiring, extensive shielding and thermal management are all part of the internal design.

Retro Control Design

Continuing FiiO's retro design theme for 2026, its knobs and dials all around for the front of the Class A!! The awesome +/- 10dB BASS & TREBLE controls are right there on the top right, always easily accessible and easy to read their settings. There are 5 Gain Settings on the left, along with a knob to select input. Double press the massive volume dial to switch outputs and use it to switch off the sleek dial back lighting or change its hue.

The Gain Settings are Low / Medium / High / Super High / Ultra High, with an extreme amount of range, so you can use a widely varied headphone collection with the Class A superbly. Power Output is rated at 4 watts into 32 ohms and 1360mW into 300 ohms.

Connect easily with RCA and XLR, both inputs and outputs as well as both 3.5mm and 4.4mm inputs.

3 headphone outputs, with 6.35mm and balanced 4.4mm & XLR. There is even a power trigger in/out on the rear,
